OK, a really stupid question coming up, drum-roll please....
How do I import a an image from a file into my work as a new layer without copying and pasting? |

hi,
it not a stupid question....
and a lot of people don't know... i just learned it my self a few months ago..
it simple....
1. have your file open that going to be the distination...
2. go to the file menu>place
3. select the file you want to import... and click ok...
that it... the file should be on it own layer...
now you will have to maybe transform the image depending the ratio and pixel deminsions |

jerryb4417 much obliged. Place, is great, I tried placing a psd file, it automatically flattened the image and placed it into a new layer, without me even creating a new layer. Doesn't get better than that. |

hi,
your welcome...
and while were on the subj moving files and layers..
here a tip.... when want to transfer some layers from one file to another...
open both files, hillight the layers you want , ctrl+click, then with the move tool just click drag.. |
