|
|
Hi,
I've spent half hour searching forum to no avail - so I apologize ahead of time if I'm asking something which has already been addressed, but I couldn't find answer.
Basically frequently when I startup my PS CS3 within the startup sequence for the software it pops up the error "No Disc in Drive E:" - which refers to an optical drive on my computer which I very rarely even use. I click "Continue" and it pops up again - sometimes 3 times - after which PS loads perfectly fine.
I double checked my scratch disc settings and they don't refer to the E: drive of course it's not even available as an option, but I figured I'd check anyway.
Any other places / settings I can check to remedy this? Any one else come across this?
As to some background for my usage of PS - I work as a graphics designer and media director in a not-for-profit and work several hours each day with it - so typically it is 'open' in my windows XP system for several days at a time until I see memory / performance hits begin to surface and completely close it to restart later in day. I have 2.33Ghz Dual Core with 2G of Ram. My 'threshold' for considering closing the app is when the Virtual Memory (or Working Set Memory) gets up to 850-900meg.
Thanks for your time. |

Have you tried un-mounting the virtual drive? Short of that I'm no good to you Welcome to the forum. _________________ If life serves you lemons, make lemonade! |

Umm... not quite sure what you mean by that... way back in the day (about 10yrs ago) when I made my own duplicating tower I recall stuff about virtual drives...
It has persisted past a complete shut down and reboot of the computer system, which I think would accomplish essentially the same thing, but again I could easily be mistaken about it.
Point being - my E: drive is a physical optical DVD burning drive, not a 'virtual drive'...
Thanks for the quick attention to my post - and for the 'WELCOME' - appreciate it |

Hello again...
I am still facing same problem - kinda learned to live with it - but anyway, Googled it again this evening, saw this post, and read it forgetting that I was the one who posted it...
Am I really the only one who encounters this?
Any feedback is appreciated... |

I was having this with a new install.
The PC has Drive D but it is a group of card readers on the front.
Normally Drive D does not show up until a card is inserted.
Photoshop seemed to be trying to find a recently opened item located on Drive D - I had quickly tried it to be sure the card readers were working.
Solution - in PS > File > open recent > click clear recent.
Probably more likely to happen if you don't correctly eject the drive (memory card) before removing. |
