I am a 3D modeller and I have having problems with trying to save a mask quickly, if I make a selection then go to refine edge and pick black and white I get an Alpha mask which is what I want However I am unable to save that mask to disk ( or at least I think I am unable to do so. )

So at the moment I am having to make the selection, invert it, paint the inverted part black, ctrl/shift/I to re-invert it and paint that selection white, then save to get the mask onto disk.

With over 2000 frames of a movie that I want to import, its a tad time consuming. The program I use (anim8or) wants a diffuse with transparency, and a mask( we call a transparency map)

Is there a quicker way I can do this, or is this the only way.

Your help would be appreciated.

From the top menu, Select-Save Selection...
make sure to save the file as a psd and the alpha channel will be saved as well.

Yep thanks Hawkeye That worked. However, the only problem now is I cannot load a PSD into the program it needs to be either24bit .jpg or .bmp
