pictures look noisy only in photoshop
They look totally fine in Bridge, but when I open them in photoshop, they look super grainy. When i save them as psds or jpegs and look at them in any other image viewing program, they look fine, not grainy. just when they are open in photoshop. this is driving me crazy. Does anyone know how to fix this?
it happens when open both raw images and jpegs.

Right is the original in bridge, left is the same file open without any changes in photoshop

Your problem got me curious so I had a look around for the issue you have.

Go to the menu: View > Proof Colors

See if that works.

If it does then you have a color management issue and your monitor and Photoshop are probably using different color profiles.

Just tried that, it had no effect.

Thank you, any other ideas?

Edit > Color Settings > Color Management Policies > Profile Mismatches: Check 'ask when opening'

Might give you a heads up if conflict is occurring.

Also you can try: View > Proof Setup > Monitor RGB

tried a couple of the proof settings, they just changed the brightness of the colors.
it also did not alert me to any profile mismatches.

hi,
i have been looking at your post for a couple of days now and I have been trying to figure out what maybe happening.. but so far no joy... but came up with some thoughts... first need more info... that why further down in post i am asking more details.. smiling... good and bad symptoms..

this is where you start looking at all possiblities and good and bad symptoms to try and narrow things down.... maybe some easter eagging...

1. now you mentioned it just with raw files and jpg's ... i take it other formats like psd or tiff or png or gif... they are all good....
2, in bridge... if you go full disp (hit the space bar) is the image still noisy???
3. if you take a jpg file and bring it in your acr is it still noisey... wasn't clear to me in your post if you were doing that... or just take a acr and bringing into the acr..
4. the thumbnails... do they all look clear and sharp??? and it just the preview mode and/or ful dispay mode... ..
5. although your hitting the noise... but can you tell if there any lbrightness or bluriness issues between bridge and ps??/ couldn't really tell from your sample for sure... since it a composite
5. are there any other issues with your pc!!!!! when did this start? always been or after some upgrade of anything... ??

things i thought about checking...
in bridge preferences... maybe check embedded profiles,,,,

also in bridge in prefereneces>advance... try checkmarking the setting for disabling hardware accellerations and "monitor size previews" , just try one at a time and then try both checkmarked, if one at a time don't work... have both checked at the same time and see if works..
note: hards ware acceleration if too high can cause graphics display issue in generall

another is opengl, on some system this can cause issue with photoshop especially if opengl is activated in ps but either the card doesn't have that abililty or it turned off ...

easter egger egging type things... but those things are the very last resort type things.... butlike updating your graphic card drivers or reinstalling bridge... smiling

that all i can think about at the moment..

In RAW have you got any of your preferences in the tool tabs set to something that would effect the file? Check the detail and the FX tabs to make sure you are not introducing grain at that point.

1. i work mostly with jpgs and cr2's, but its the same story with psds and tifs, etc
2, everything is fine in bridge, in preview, and in acr, its only in photoshop.
3. its not noisy in the acr.
4. the thumbnails are fine, its just the working image in PS
5. noise only, the rest is fine, they aren't blurry or different colors
5. i'm on a mac, and i haven't updated anything. I had this issue before and I clicked off the pixel grid and it seemed to resolve itself, but its happened again, but the pixel grid isn't on this time and its not making a difference turning it on or of..

it is not a bridge problem, its an exclusively photoshop problem
