Running CS5 from Windows 7 on PC. Trying to open a tiff file in Bridge to Photoshop. Control-O does nothing. "Open with' wants to send me to 'Internet Explorer 9 (default).
Any help would be appreciated greatly.

hi,
can you open the tif file directely from photoshop???? by passing bridge.

nowif you can't then myfirst thoughts, since there many different flavors of the tif format... photoshop doesn't have the right codexs for yours...

so what you might do if this is the case get a programlike irfanview or xnview.. there free and use them to resave the tif file into either a differentformat or a different flavorof tiff tha ps can open

Have you updated/checked for updates with bridge. What version are you using? (Bridge)

Thanks for replying.

My tiff was originally generated in Photoshop (raw file>ACR>Photoshop.
Now to get it back into Photoshop FROM the Bridge, it won't work, but SHOULD work, as it is an original PS-generated tiff file.

Why should it want to open in Internet Explorer, of all things?!

hi,
what meathod were you trying to get that tiff from bridge to ps...?

something you might look at ...

take a look at what the default program toopen the tiff file... it might be setup for ie9 ... if it is just change it to your ps...

if you do a right click on the image>"open with" it should show ps...

Maybe your ".tiff" files are associated with Internet Explorer? You can change/check in Windows using control panel>programs>default programs>set associations. I had a look on my computer, and tiffs are set to open with Photoshop.

You can also set in it in Bridge: edit>preferences>file type associations. (checked mine and tiffs are set to "photoshop".

Not sure if this solves your problem, but worth a look.

Thanks very much for your reply.
In the control panel, the association for Tiffs was Windows Photo Viewer. I changed it to Photoshop.

In Bridge Prefs, under file type assoc., Photoshop was already assiciated.
Then I tried to send a Tiff from Bridge (control + O), and instedd of opening in PS, it again opened in ACR.

So I don't know what else to do, other than just sending the file right out of ACR into Photoshop, no big deal.

Thanks again,
Jane

OK, one other thing to try. In ACR, there are options for tiff handling. You could try disabling tiff handling for ACR. If that works, then you might like to change it again so that ACR will open only the tiffs which have already been edited in ACR.

The option is under preferences:
