hi,
hopefully other guys jumps in... i am just so so...
first of all remember each picture is different and what techniques or effects and workflow maybe different....

help a lot if we had a image , or portion of the image that your actuallyworking on... also... when thee a sample to work with you get more replies... smiling.. and you see different meathods..

the background maybe alittle veginette with fill and a slite cloud effect

now i am not sure if there a specific your after....
for examples... the shirt... probably a hue and sature adjustment layer

on the hair.... maybe they used alittle dodge and burn to hilight and little saturation ....

however the skin color that make the difference in the image!!!!! sort of hard sometimes to get just right...

different ways to address...
1. mask off the area the skin
2. youcan then apply a adjustment fill layer with the sking color, and the use one of your various blends, you experiment maybe even need to change opacity alittle...
3. you can also just brush in the skin color

hi,
your welcome...

and like i mentioned... uploading a sample of a picture your actually working helps a lot...... if there concerns about privacy issues... you can just upload a large enough section to work with...

and generally a lot of the guys... we all have our competitivnes... lol...
will do things to it... provide a workflow (general step) on how we reach the results... sort of a short turtorial

good luck on your project..

You might want to take a look at Color Efex 4 from Nik software, you can download a full featured trial version for 15 days.

hi,
iwas looking at your post again...

a couple of things i didn really mentioned.... that may help
the skin is important.. and in this case... the skin texture along with color
now this tutorial addresses smoothing of the skin....
http://ginismagic.blogspot.com/2008/12/how-to-enhance-portraits-in-photoshop.html also looking at this skin you might want to look at some
tutorials on on porcelin skin ...

the back ground basically looks like solid color with a radial radian.. although apply a fille and mask light mask out areas you don't want...

the colors again maybe masks and then apply either a saturation layer to really bring out the colors or use one of the
or one of the color tools... that about 8 or nie different ways change colors... and modify
