|
|
My local lab told me that all images have to be 8mb or less.
So here is the picture's info before saving.
My question is, if I want to print the image to 8x10 with decent quality, I have to up the DPI from 72 to say around 240dpi.
Now if I do that, the pixel dimensions jump from 12.3mb to 90mb.
They also told me that the "maximum" dimensions or X-Y path can't be no bigger than 5000x7400 (whatever that means)...?
How do I go about getting the right dpi in without sacrificing size of the file.
Hope this wasn't confusing.
Thanks |

I thought that unless you selected 'resample image', the number of pixels in the file would remain unchanged. So if you unclick 'resample image', then change the 72 to 240, it will change only the width/height which will give you an idea of the printing size.
If this doesn't look right (too big/small), you can then try resampling (which DOES change the number of pixels). Turn the resample image box back on, and choose the resampling method in the drop down box. They say to use 'bicubic smoother' to enlarge, 'bicubic sharper' to reduce.
Your image is 12 megabytes. I would have thought that you'd have no trouble getting a quality print from that (without having to resample). Why not print a couple of test pictures? Choose a cheap printer to do the tests, then go to the specialised lab if you're happy.
Let us know how you go, I'm curious. |

Yeah your right Renata the sizing refers to document dimensions not pixel dimensions so if resample image is unchecked then Kuba should end up with an image 7"x10" @ 240ppi |
