I hope this is in the right forum - it's my first post.

I'm struggling with producing a jpeg I can copy into MS word to print a greetings card. I'd assume that if I want the image in word to be, say, 10cm x 10cm then I should choose the same dimensions in my new PS document. This doesn't seem to be the case and although the file imports into word and looks OK on the document when I print it does not correspond.

I'm using an old version of PS (5.0).

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Welcome to the forum.

Are you printing directly from MS Word? If you do a print preview from Word first, does it look OK there?

Note that changing the print size in Photoshop doesn't necessarily make it a "smaller" jpeg.

You should be able to save your jpeg in its full resolution then resize it from within Word to whatever size you want. Just click and drag from the corner of the picture (hold SHIFT to keep it in proportion).

Hope this helps - ask again if not.

Thanks for this. The word print preview displays the image as I want it but when I print I end up with a much larger image across the document. I guess it's a problem with my printer settings rather than anything to do with PS. I'll have another try later today and let you know if I have any luck.

I've sorted it now by tweaking my print settings and have perfect results. Thanks for your help.

hi jondy,
ah i just saw your last post and am glad to hear you found a solution...

but since i did some research on this already.. smiling i thought i post to let you know I initially thought it was somthing in your msword causing the issue... msword itself or the printer setup....

came across several posts where people had similar issues with msword and printing the graphics in a document....

this thread gives some background info on the subject ... you probably used one of the suggestions they mentioned... I think it something to keep in mind since it appears you use msword a fair amount..
