Ok, im trying to work on a tutorial, and ive hit another snag that i cant solve with the PS-Help.

The instructions are telling me to do something, but i think it is leaving out a very simple step, that i as a new PS user, dont know.

Ive spent over an hour stumped on this problem alone. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thx.

*If the text is not legible to you, this is what it says below

In the first image, the red portion that is stumping me says
" Select the base layer circle by holding ctrl and clicking the layer. Inverse the selection by going to select and then inverse, and then delete. Inverse the selection again and spherize to 100% twice."

and the second image shows the error message
"Warning: No Pixels were selected"

Thx again.
*also, please excuse my lame paint spraycan. I'm just that frustrated :)

Looking at your screenshot and the explanation, it seems to me that this might be the problem:

The baselayer doesn't need to be selected as in standing on it, but you need to hold the ctrl down when clicking on it. It will select the shape in your baselayer, while still being on the second layer.

Secondly i saw that your baselayer has a rectangular shape, while i'm pretty much sure that it's only the black shape that should be here, not the white surroundings. (otherwise you can't spherize in a circlar shape)

Hope this helps..

Ctrl+Shift+I = Inverse selection (the marching ants)

yes exactly. the tutorial is EXCELLENT! Extremely thorough. Im working on trying to use some algae and other dirt textures to make my own right now.

As a beginner, im way over my head, but there's something i cant quite explain about my enthusiasm for his/your kind of artwork, and i'd like to make and publish some of my own if i get good enough.

I got past the catch though. Just doing a little of the tutorial here and there in my spare time.

having fun, yes.

making wicked stuff....you could call it "wicked" in the bad way LOL

Even though i think some of my textures are gonna be great, i still have alot to learn about HOW to make them so great.

It'll be quite a while for me to learn. One of the things i like so much about the spacial scenes is that you can create great art, without being good with a pencil or paintbrush. I think i have an artistic mind, but not the hand to match.
