I took my round image referenced in my last post and selected the whole image and then chose select/color range. I applied the black matte and experimented with the selection (eyedropper) tool. I got a look that I really like and want to save the image with that look but when I select save, I am saving a .axt file (whatever that is Confused ), not a .gif.

How can I apply the effect and then save the file?

Did you try save as or save for web? This will normally give you other options.

Hope it helps..

When in the color-range window, one option is save. That is the one I used but it only gave me the creation of the .axt file.

Once the color-range window closed, the image had the "sparkling" look of a selected image but no visible changes. When I clicked on the image again, the selection canceled and the image was unchanged so saving for the web was of no value (I didn't try though, so I don't really know).
