Hello there,
after "save for web" the text that was crisp in Photoshop gets some nasty noise around it.
anyone knows how to fix this?

Hi and welcome to the forum.
There will be no prescribed answer per-Se it depends upon how you saved it and other factors.
I think it's safe to assume that you want to save for the 'web'. How did you save the original file? I would guess a JPEG or a PNG. There are only 2 colours that you need to contend with for this graphic, I would suggest that PNG 8 or GIF would be more suitable, with both you could eliminate the white background if needed or keep it as wished. (not strictly true, you would need PNG 16)
I would hazard a guess that you are saving with too high a compression ratio on JPEG, either try upping the quality of the JPEG or one of the other file types mentioned above.

Hello hermit,
swell!
your advice worked just fine.
I did initially save it in jpeg.
Now I saved it in png, after having gotten rid of the white background.
However, I had to put it on 8 colours, otherwise the letters became jagged.
Other text in a green area, I had to put on 16 colours.
All that is no problem I guess.
The png route certainly was enlightening.

It's normal to save in 8 or 16, 32 or even more if necessary, when I say 2 colours I was referring to red and black although a quick pixel breakdown will reveal many variations of those colours, as aliasing and other factors are weighed in.

hi mark,
just a few tid bits of info. i have learned the hard way..lol, that you might find usefull and enlightening..
1. jpg and compressions- you have that little slide bar well that effect the compression low compression -- high quality .. if you zoom in in the preview and play with that slide bar you will see how the amount of compression really changes the quality of the image... maybe jaggedness or straight thin line jagged, edges fuzy etc.... if too much compression
2. gif and png8 -- those are max of 256 colors format ... if a image have more than 256 colors (shades of colors) the alogrythms will reduce the the extra colors in a image this is called dithering .. sometimes the results are not good and one needs to play around with the settings there in the web windows for them to look right .
