Hi I am fairly new to photoshop (I only have elements 5) I have added text before (on old pc) tonight I tried to add text to a photo and the text is so tiny I can hardly see it. I have the font size set to 48, and the image size is 72 pixels/inch.

I have noticed something else. It seems to be only on the photos I have taken recently on my new camera. I have just saved an old pic from photobucket to try the text on and it works fine.
Anyone have any idea why this would happen?

hi
it hard to say at the moment...
first that 72 that not your image size that the ppi...
so could you tell us what the pixal deminsion are?
for example is it 1000x1000 .....
now a lot of time the percieved look is effected by if have zoomed in and or/your dealing with very large deminsions ..... if the text looks small on the screen |

Perhaps the new pictures have a much higher resolution, so are actually bigger files (even though they look the same size on the screen).
Try just making the font size bigger. You aren't restricted to 72, you can type in a bigger value if you want to (or hold the mouse over the big T and drag left/right).
You can also resize the text after you've typed it in. Just choose the move tool, click and drag the corner of the text's bounding box. Text is a vector so it will resize nicely. |

Hi these are some of the details I have taken from one of the photographs
Width - 3165 pixels
Depth - 2115 pixels
Horizontal resolution - 72 dpi
Vertical resolution = 72dpi

hi,
i forgot to ask you what font your were using.... many fonts... even if large size number is used will look small, some fonts were setup so small that i had to put something like 150 to make it more readable .....
now i don't know how large you want it to appear on the image...
renata suggestion very good if it not large enough then manually put in
a real large number .. and as you type it should be quite noticble the size increase.... |
