I'm new around here... sorry if I'm posting on the wrong section, but I want some help with this pic:
The quality is very bad... I tried to use the unsharp mask tool and got this as a result:
And this is a zoom of one of it's parts:
I just zoomed it to show how bad it is. I'd like if someone help me increasing the quality if possible. |

hi synn,
first I like to say I am just a couple of levels above a novice there are people lot better than me..
also to let you know there probably people like me who are working on the image but they don't have nothing to report...
this is a difficult image.. lots of noise and the focusing issue... been trying several techniques such as.. the usual sharpening techniques, using the high pass filter technique which is favorite of people.. what i haven't tried yet is sharpening in lab and doing sharpening using seperation technique which is a favorite with the pro's ..
I can improve some butstill too noisy and fuzzy
so i am backtracking and trying a different approach.
I am first going to try and reduce the color noise and luninouse noise .. that will probably add alittle more fuzzyness but i hope not very much and then go back and try either the high pass filter technique or freq seperation
here a tutorial on noise i think you'll find of interest
http://www.photoshopessentials.com/photo-editing/reduce-noise/
if i make any significant progress i'll come back ... but i am hopeing people jump in if not let me know |

jerryb seems to have nailed it pretty much. no amount of frequency separation or high pass sharpening is going to rectify the image. Taking it into RAW might produce slightly better results, the colour noise can be tackled effectively in RAW and PS, a dual combination can help.
The long and the short of it though is, the image sucks! _________________ If life serves you lemons, make lemonade! |
