Hi. I am trying to stitch together many screenshots from a game on my iPhone. Photomerge didn't work well for me, but using Difference mode for the layers is fine. Only thing is, there are around 20 screenshots, and this will not be my last "level map". So I was hoping there to be some automated way of doing this? The pixels are 97% match where they override and it is 2D with no fishlens effect.

Go on you know you want to create a huge canvas and drag and drop!
Other than photomerge I have little experience of 3rd party packages, but a quick trip around Google gives a few free and paid ones and most will have demos, so you can try before buying.

Drag'n'drop would be fine for me, if only this was the last time I need to do this.
I have tried Photomerge, with every possible configuration, and it just doesn't work. Even the one called Collage (i think) where it will not distort the images, it simply mismatches every single picture. Not a single stitching matches. If I apply a Difference layer and then a layer mask (i think it's called that) to enhance the difference in colors, it is very easy to place them correctly. Now, why doesn't Photomerge just do that? |

hi,
first Idon't know what version ps you have.. profile didn't say... it makes difference on what recommended and/or understanding what happening..
for example i had cs1 and photomerge was limited... the newer versions photomerge was much more capable and better... ...
photomerge... well sometime it just does not quite match somtimes especially if not using a tripod, and you do need to go in do a little editing, distort part of the image or try to tone match a section to another image frame .......
also have you considered using action??/ they can help alot.... on where there a lot of repetition... you can make them your self or there tons of action freely avail on the net....
now i don't know what version of photoshop you have... but if you want to manually match things...
there is a feature in many ps ver under scripts, called load in stack...
when you get to the browse windows you can hole down the shift key and tag the first file and tag the last file and everything in between will be tag and then all the files will be imported as layers into a single file... all you need to then is just enlarge the canvas and reposition your images
alsoit would probably help alittle bit if we can see sample of the problems your having...... for shots that going to be a panarama... generally you lke to have a good overlap on shots... photomerge works better ithink when that kept in mind... in some case all you need is apply alittle gradient to that one layer....
