hey i tried this DIY polaroid tutorial out of aprils edition of the digital slr photogaphy magazine. i had some trouble. firstly the brush i was using was just a round one with soft edges. i found it hard to make a clean cut when using the layer mask. and also with the layer mask you can see the parts ive tried to hide/reveal with black and white brushs have come out grey?? would really appreciate anyones help.

Hard brush edges create a well defined cut compared to soft brush.

Not sure why its grey however suspect has something to do with blending modes or your masking technique.

Is each Polaroid on individual layers?

Hard to say exactly where you went wrong without magazine.

If you merge the Polaroids on to a single layer before applying the masking technique used by the photo it should solve the problem.

Further you can upload the psd file to an online host (mediafire) if you would like one of the members here to check the problem out for you.

I think the Mystical Lighting plugin does this automatically.
