My Windows XP machine is at capacity and I'm about to upgrade (?) to a new machine with Windows 7.

When I installed CS4 on my current computer, I decided to keep CS, because I find the functionality of the two versions of PhotoShop doesn't completely overlap. (The automated photomerge and the browse feature in CS both are more nimble than the same functions in CS4)

I want to put both on my new machine as well. Does anyone have any experience running Photoshop CS v.8 on Windows 7? Will CS 4 v. 11.0.2, run just fine on it, or am I signing up for years of problems?

Hello and welcome, vcwald. :)

I ran some Google searches and I couldn't find any information about running both versions at the same time on Windows 7. According to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/Search.aspx?type=Software&s=photoshop&page=1, Photoshop 7 is compatible with Windows 7, but "action" is recommended for CS2/version 9. So, it's kind of unclear. May be something you have to test.

At worst, you may be able to run some sort of virtual machine if you really need it.

If anyone here has run Photoshop 8 on Windows 7 and can share their personal experience, as vcwald requested, that would be great. :)

Thanks,

Patrick
