|
|
Hi guys,
I have PS CS4 and I'm trying to open a psd file that was also created in CS4. I do know that I am now missing some font files that were originally on my computer when it was last saved. I cannot get those font files back with any ease.
Now every time I try and open this psd, Photoshop crashes with the following report:
Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS)
Exception Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at 0x0000000000000020
Crashed Thread: 0 Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread
When I preview the file within Finder, I can see it fine. It will also open with Preview without issues.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your help... |

Can you open it if you rename the extension to a TIF?
Had a quick look around for your problem and haven't found anything yet, will keep you posted if I find any. Sure others may help too. _________________ If life serves you lemons, make lemonade! |

I use Paint Shop Pro as well and get lucky with some files that Photoshop is picky about, have you tried opening it in another Paint type program? _________________ twitter @4DragonsMedia |

Photoshop should be able to deal with missing fonts. And even if there's something wrong with a psd file, it shouldn't crash.
Does this problem only occur with this file and this program (i.e Photoshop)?
If so, can you get somebody else with Photoshop to try to open the file and see what happens? If they can open it, then it's more likely your Photoshop installation. If it crashes for somebody else, then you might have discovered some sort of new bug in Photoshop (unlikely...)
If other people can open the file OK, then it's more likely something with your installation or setup. Have there been any issues with the original installation of Photoshop? Would it be a lot of trouble to uninstall and reinstall if it came to that?
If the problem occurs outside of Photoshop, then you need to look more widely for the cause.
Hope you find what it is, things like that are a real pain. |
