Hi there

For some reason i am unable to type numbers or characters from the keys above qwerty. The cursor moves across te work but there is a blank left behind it.

There are no problems with typing anywhere else for example 1234!@#$, works fine but in PS they dont show

Are there any ides out there as to why, oh and it works fine in gimp Confused

Deleting the preferences file has been known to cure odd PS behavior.

A few things to try:

WHat happens if you mix text from the top line and other lines? e.g 7Y*U? Do the 7 and the * still come up blank when they're mixed?

Does it still happen when you cut and paste those characters from somewhere else (e.g Word), or does it only happen when you type them in fresh?

Can you borrow a keyboard from somebody else and plug it in? Does a different keyboard give the same result?

Have you rebooted the computer since it started happening? Does it still happen after a reboot?

You can try other special characters and see if they're weird too (on windows: All Program>System Tools>character map). Copy and paste various characters and see what happens.

This should help you isolate whether it really is Photoshop, or whether it's some other strange thing.

Oh, and you could try resetting the type tool (choose type tool, click downward triangle dropdown at top left, click circle triangle in the box that comes up.)

It's a really strange one.
