Your problem is a bit different , by the way i think you would require a black and gray transparency as Auieos
said, try it out :)

If the inkjet printer can't print out a halftone dot (look at a newspaper photo through a magnifying glass) you're stuffed and you'll have to send the job out for posis from a film plotter. On the outside chance that it can, the dot structure from inkjet trannies is very poor. A thermal output would be slightly better, but not much.
