This will probably seem easy for some of you, but I'm new to Photoshop and I'm mystified.

I found a few tutorials online that to add plugins to Photoshop Ijust need to add the 8bf file to the Plugins folder and restart Photoshop. I've tried that with 3 different plugins and none show up anywhere in the Filters menu.

Restarting Photoshop doesn't help.

I have CS4. Is it possible those instructions were for an older version and don't work with CS4?

I also tried installing a free version of Eye Candy 3 that includes a demo of Eye Candy 4. Those install through a .exe program (Yes, I'm on a PC with Windows 7). Those didn't show up either, plus I had to manually uninstall them, leaving behind some registry entries.

Any help would be appreciated.

- Jane

I may have figured it so I thought I'd let you know in case something like this ever comes up for you.

It seems the plugins are made for a 32-bit operating system. If I open the 32-bit version of Photoshop the plugins are there. If I open the 64-bit version they are not there.

Now, does anyone know of a fix --- or will these older plugins never work with the 6t4-bit version?

To the best of my knowledge, those 32-bit plugins won't be compatible with 64-bit versions of Photoshop. Can you share a link to where the plugin is? Maybe I can find a 64-bit replacement...

If your computer supports 32 bit, then find a plug in of 32 bit, don't go for 64 bit as it won't be compatible
