I have been working on some images for a client, and it's the first time I actually have to worry about the printing result (usually they just want digital images)
I know printers work with CMYK and monitors work with RGB. So I was told to change the mode from RGB to CMYK and work from there. Supossedly when I change from RGB to CMYK the image should change, loose some colors or whatever, but nothing happened, the image stayed the same way as before... so I thought it should print like that. but the result is very different. it shows much greener and darker and less saturated. I also tried using the proof color or ctrl+Y command to see a preview on how would it look, but again, absolutely no change at all. So I don't know how to see more or less what the result will be unless I actually print it, and I don't want to keep trying and spending ink.
The image shows fine in any image editing or viewing program, the only weird thing is that when I send it in an email, and then open the image with the internet explorer software that I use (googe chrome) it looks much more similar to the print result, also greener and darker. (edit: this just happens if I save the file as a cmyk jpeg)
If I download the image from the email and open it with any program, it looks fine.
I just calibrated my monitor and still can't find what could be the problem...
any ideas? I really need to solve this in the next few days Frown
I don't know the printer it will be printed at the end, it's just a regular professional printer, so I can't calibrate the printer to a specific profile...
here's a sample: to the left is the original image, and to the right is how it's seen when opened by google chrome (also it pretty close on how it looks printed)
Also: I've tried printing it in various printers, so it's not a specific printer problem...

Just a few hints:
Ive seen most of the people who have thios problem are told that it's either a screen calibration problem, which can't be, because I just calibrated it, and also I've seen it in different monitors, and it looks good in all of them.
And the other option is that it might be a problem with the printer, which also can't be the problem because I've tried in different printers and it always looks greener when printed...
So I assume there's something wrong on my specific file that for some reason changes colors when I send it to print...
btw it's already set on CMYK

It's going to be a no-brainer to diagnose bad colour management and perhaps a careless proofing system and or converting process.

Without knowing your knowledge base it could be opening a can of worms, colour management and settings are a huge topic. I am happy to suggest some resources if you require, but you can handle Google as well as the next person, start looking for CMYK conversions and other relevant topics.

Sorry if it seems less than you needed, but as stated I can provide some links, but I don't want to preach to the converted.

Well I don't know much about color profiles, I use the ones that come as presets for now, I just changed the rgb to sRGB, it seems to be more accurate according to some people.
Still could that be the reason? I would love you to give me some hints, I already searched for CMYK conversions and learned a bit but I could always use some more info...
