I recently installed Photoshop CS4 (just the application) without a hitch and the program seems to work fine without any problems.
The issue is that the tutorial books I am using keep referring to files like Big sky.tif and Bottles.tif supposedly located in the "Goodies sample folder of your Photoshop directory".

I went to this folder but could not locate such files. Are these compressed files that are part of the installation CD that somehow were not installed because I only installed the application, since I could not find these files in the CD either?

I don't think that it ships with a 'goodies folder' to the best of my knowledge, certainly not in downloaded versions, I think most of the additional content in the goodies folder can be downloaded from Adobe here.

Hope that helps, although I am not sure about the TIF files.

Thanks I will check out your recommended link.
By the way what I have is NOT a downloaded version of photoshop. It is a complete legal retail version on a CD of photoshop CS4. My tuturial books claim these file like Bottles.tif and Big sky.tif should come with the product and be part of the "Goodies" folder.

The "Goodies" graphic file contents were not found in this link. The link dealt with plug-ins and the like.
Can anybody tell me where all the example graphic files like Bottels.tif and Big sky.tif that should have come with the retail version of Photoshop CS4 can be located?
Thanks

I did not mean that you had downloaded it illegally rather that you may have downloaded from Adobe. And the plugins are a large part of what was in the goodies folder.

Here to save you the effort I have done the work for you, I provide the link, but this is the pertinent part of it

Stock Photos
We no longer support Adobe Stock Photos. For more information refer to the online FAQ:

Adobe CS4 Goodies Link

Sorry about that, although you should be able to get comparable photos from stock exchange sites.

Thank you for trying to help out.
I really appreciate it.
I tried your latest link but was unable to find any stock photos from
Photoshop that really belonged on the CD.

I realize I can do a search for free images but many of these so called free sites really are not free
and even if I found some few true free ones they would not have the same photos called out in the tutorial books I am using.
The books are assuming the stock photos were supposed to be in the CD.

Anyway I do appreciate you trying to help out.

Sorry, my latest link was to say that unfortunately Adobe does not provide/support the images that you are looking for anymore.

As for free stock sites try this one for size Free Stock there are a few others out there too, a Google should do the trick, but shout back if you need any more.

AAaargh, I am know confusing myself!, I seem to remember Stock Photos not pertaining to the Goodies folder images you want, but a separate venture that Adobe obviously deemed doomed (mmm alliteration).

I dunno any more.
