I was slicing up an image to save each individual elements as their own PSD's...
Because I was a bad boy and didn't name all of my layers, I was using the move tool to "wiggle" a layer to see what it was, then duplicating it into a new document, etc.
This is what I usually do but something changed... I went back to the main document to grab another image and all of a sudden when I click on one layer and try to move it...Photoshop is selecting all of the layers within that specific folder instead of just the one I selected. It'll appear as only one layer selected, then I try to move it and then magically all of the layers move with it (only in that folder).
I've spent the last 10 minutes trying to figure out what's going on, but I'm seriously stumped. Anyone ever experienced this and have a clue what I might have done? I really hope I don't have to reset to defaults...

Sounds like you need to unlink your layers. From the top menu..."Layers/unlink layers"
Your layers probably have a small chain link looking icon on each of them. _________________ http://www.jmerrittphotorestoration.com/ |

No sorry, that isn't it. A little more information about the problem:
I'll select one layer, and if I'm not exactly over that element in the layer, it'll default to the marquee tool and drag a dotted line as I drag the mouse... But it's not always consistent. Sometimes it'll drag around multiple elements that are similar (e.g. half of the text layers or half of the image layers or half of the shape/object layers).
So I guess half the time it'll activate the marquee tool when I click to drag; the other half of the time it'll move multiple layers at once. Something's screwed up for sure lol. |

Have you perhaps altered any of the move options? _________________ If life serves you lemons, make lemonade! |
