Ive never owned a Mac and it seems to work just fine for me. It runs great on my desktop pc...I think the biggeset improvement I made was a 22 inch widescreen monitor. For the most part however, most of my work is done on my laptop. My laptop is only a Dell with a Core2 duo cpu and 1gig of ram. Granted, Photoshop is a bit faster on my desktop, but I cant beat the portabiity of my laptop. The laptop is getting replaced soon with a new machine and more ram, so it should be a big help. I wouldnt buy a Mac just for Photoshop use unless I made a living with Photoshop. _________________ http://www.jmerrittphotorestoration.com/ |

You get more bang for your buck with a PC, but let's face it, you're not really worried about that if you want a MAC. Get yourself a Cinema Screen and a decent PC, you can have feet in both camps then _________________ If life serves you lemons, make lemonade! |

The best thing I ever did was buy a second monitor. I just needed more screen room, and that certainly did it for me.
My friend has a Mac and didn't really notice any difference and actually went back to a PC, so it's all personal preference of which OS you want to use. |

In answer to your question, no. Macs are faster than an equal spec PC.
I have used macs and they have a certain smoothness of work flow when it comes to graphic intensive duties.
If money is no option and all your ever going to do is photoshop and photography work then mac is the way to go.
I own a PC, and hate the restrictive and costly nature of Macs, but cannot flaw them when it comes to the task of which you ask about. |

Agreed. I still feel that I wouldn't bother owning one just for editing use, unless editing was my primary moneymaker. But, I do agree that the Macs have their niche. For memory intensive applications, they are top notch. Same goes for music editing...I have thousands of dollars worth of music production software that works well for me on my PC, but generally works better on a Mac. To me its a budget issue, not "What would do this better than anything else" issue. _________________ http://www.jmerrittphotorestoration.com/ |

No, no, no, no, NO!!! Quote: | Macs are faster than an equal spec PC.
| well, ok, yes, but the more bang for buck still trumps that. Doesn't it?
Ever tried upgrading a MAC? _________________ If life serves you lemons, make lemonade! |

PC are way better than mac....Upgrade a mac is a nightmare and really expensive...anyway if you plan to buy a new pc and use it mostly for photoshop the most important part will be the monitor. _________________ Professional-Tutorials.com || Quality Tutorials |
