I dont know if the update feature is different from CS4 than it is in CS5, but try clicking on help, updates, then click on preferences and make sure the checkbox for Camera Raw is selected. The updater will then check for any updates, download and install them for you.
Otherwise you'll probably have to download the updated plugin and extract it to a folder on your computer. Then, cut and paste the extracted plugin to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Plug-ins\File Formats.
That should do the trick. _________________ http://www.jmerrittphotorestoration.com/ |

Thanks for the info! Both sure are correct... but since this PS that I am using wasn't "purchased" maybe there is a block on letting me upgrade!
I followed step by step the update plug in and extract instructions, but maybe I'm not doing it correct.
The new version seems to be in the correct place (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Plug-ins\File Formats. ) but when I try to open a raw file in PS, it says "Could not complete your request becasue it is not the right kind of document"
ARGH! Any thoughts?
Thanks Tons! |

It's Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended if that makes any difference. |

Have you tried simply double clicking on the update after you extract the zip file? It should install itself.
Which version are you installing, 5.5, 5.6 or newer?
Maybe this is what you need"
Drag the Camera Raw.plugin file into /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS4/File Formats. If you are prompted to overwrite or replace the existing plug-in file, then click Replace. _________________ http://www.jmerrittphotorestoration.com/ |
