Hello everybody, i'm new on this forum. I need help with a website i was asked to design. Actually i was asked to create a miniaturised version of http://www.barackobama.com. Some thing similar. But i was wowed when i checked the website and noticed that the graphics was breadthtaking. I'm not good in photoshop. I'm actually below average. I'm moe of a web programmer than a graphics person. But i've taken this job already and i feel i can pull it off with the help of you guys. I just need directions on how to create something similar to what's on that site.
First i want to know how to create that effect that glows with a white color on a blue background. What's it called in photoshop so that i can research on it.
I'll appreciate your assistance. Thanks in advance. |

It looks like they just used a soft brush with white to make it. Didn't do a very good job of it, IMO. |

I agree with Mr. Hawkins. It looks like a fairly standard technique, but I have seen much better.
To recreate that look quickly, I would first create the blue background layer. Then, I would create a new layer above it and use a soft airbrush with a fairly large size, white, and paint the areas you want to see the highlight. Then, with the painted layer selected, go to Filters menu and select Gaussian Blur and drag the radius slider up until you get a nice feathery look to the white paint. That should just about do it.
Try it once or twice and you'll begin to see how to apply the paint to get the look you want.
