hi everyone. totally new here and registered because of a areally annoying issue i am having with PS CS5 on win7.
i am using a tablet (wacom) and my brushes are pressure sensitive. when i am sketching, even if i am pressing the pen gently, once in a while (every 3 or 4 lines) i get a hard line, fully pressed. if i want to pain dlicately using soft pressure strokes every 3 or 4 or so lines i get a strok or a few that are done as if i pressed the pen as hard as possible.
this forces me to undo every 3 seconds or so. impossible to paint like that.
why is this? how can i get the pen and PS to react properly?
(i will add that this issue is not happening in other softwares im using like Flash or Painter).
thanks a lot. _________________ CPU: Q6600 2.4ghz \ RAM: 4GB \ GPU: HD4870 512mb \ Win 7 x64 |

Firstly which Wacom are you using I'm using a Bamboo, CS5 and Win 7 and it's working fine the only thing I can think of is have you checked to see if there's an updated driver on Wacoms site? _________________ Lee |

i am using intous3. it's working fine in every other program.
before i installed win7 i had an issue like this on XP and Photoshop CS - when the computer was "thinking" (not sure how to describe it. it was doing something. loading into or out of memory. stuff was hapenning) then there was a tiny freeze. a fracture of a second. if i was drawing during that time than the pen pressure would be ignored and the conputer would think i am using a mouse or something and it would ignore the pressure and give me a line that was a 100% pressure. i didnt really bother me then because it happened so rarely.
now, on win7, i have this issue every 4 seconds. impossible to do my job like this. i dont know if it's happening again for the same reason - that the computer is doing something and perhaps losing contact with the tablet or whatnot.
and yeah, i have the latest driver for my intous3. _________________ CPU: Q6600 2.4ghz \ RAM: 4GB \ GPU: HD4870 512mb \ Win 7 x64 |

if you had a similar problem when your computer was "working" before, maybe you have a computer problem?
if your computer is freezing and jumping then it would make sense for this to happen.
if your computer is running slow it could create these problems.
i would suggest running a free scan at www.myfree.....
only joking, sorry.
but try a ctrl+alt+del and see what your CPU usage is while this is happening |

i will do what u suggested but im not sure what i should look for in the task manager.
and also all i have left from my "old" computer is my HDD, case, keyboard, mouse and wacom. everything else went to the bin when my mobo fried. (RIP)
and with the old computer this issue happened ONLY when i started a second programs while i was working on photoshop. if i was painting and opened my winamp and started painting WHILE winamp was in the process of opening than i would have this issue, but if i waited 20 seconds for winamp to load and actually start playing than i couldd keep on playing without this problem. now i dont need to open any additional program for this bugger to give me problems. it is just the way it is all the time. _________________ CPU: Q6600 2.4ghz \ RAM: 4GB \ GPU: HD4870 512mb \ Win 7 x64 |

this does seem like it could be a computer problem, considering it happened when you ran 2 programs before.
open your task manager while its happening and see how much CPU and memory is being used.
at the bottom look at your "CPU usage". how much is it using?
also arrange the list by "mem usage" by clicking the "mem usage" at the top (probably twice) and see how much memory photoshop is using.
i am using windows XP so it might be different on windows 7, but a google search will help if its different. |
