The Move tool

PS Version: CS 5
OS: Windows 7

The selection has been made and now to move it to a different area. So I select the move tool, and expect to move the item by pressing the mouse button and dragging to the desired area.
But, the entire layer moves.

Make sure you have a selection tool selected (lasso for instance) and then drag with the mouse. If I understand correctly.

Welcome FlashConcept,
Also, make sure the correct layer is active in the layers panel if you're trying to move the pixels within the selection with the Move Tool.
