HI,
I am masking a part of an image on a layer using layer mask and then i am trying to brighten the masked part by using the image adjustment brightness contrast tool on the layer mask. It is not working on the masked part although the layer mask is selected. I saw it in a tutorial but its not working for me. will greatly appreciate any help.

Make sure you are not still working on the mask, click the image thumbnail in the layer palette to make sure. As for adjusting brightness do it with an adjustment layer and then clip it to the masked layer beneath it.
