Strange Shapes with Lasso & Pen tool

When using the Polygon or free Lasso tool, and now using the pen tool as well, I get strange random shapes filled with random color that appear in other areas of the screen, not in the area I used the tool.

Any idea why this is happening?

Check the Options Bar - sounds like you've got some wacky settings for your tools?
