For my ul list on my web-page I want to use small maples leaves instead of bullets. The color of my list is black and I want to make maples white. The size of a maple leave should be 15/15 or at most 20/20 pixels. I used symbols in PHotoshop to create a maple leave. Anyway, my leaves look terrible on the web-page, blurry and not resembling maples leaves at all. Could someone give me a hint on what I should do to my leaves look good?
I saved my image as gif with transparent background.

My maple leave is attached. I know it is a disgrace..
the size of the image is 15/14px. I ideally i wanted to make it even smaller but it looks like , the smaller it gets to worse it looks on my web-site. I will appreciate any hint on how do make sure the leave looks sharp and clear on the black background. |

Hmmmm yeah I can see what you mean, the image you have has lost its shape.
Two things that could have caused it are...
If your shrinking something to make it really small use the correct interpolation technique when u change the image size. (Bicubic Sharper)
When saving as a GIF, in the save for web options, make sure to use transparency dither and matte options.
Icons are a pain because there just so small. Sometimes they need to be edited the hard way by hand and eye. The features of a symbol or object often need to be exaggerated for them to display correctly within the small amount of pixels employed by it.
You can always google for someone elses 'maple leaf icon'.  |
