				| Tip: Add Styles to the "Background" Layer
Wait, you can add layer styles to your background layer?? Nope, you can't. You have to convert the background layer to a regular layer. There's a few ways to do this. You can:

 1) Double click on the title of the background layer, "Background", and change the name to something else. This will make the background layer a regular Joe Shmoe layer.

 2) Copy the background layer and delete the actual background layer, leaving only the copy behind.

 3) The fastest way to make the background layer a regular layer is to hold down the Alt key and double click the background layer. This will automatically change the background layer to "Layer 0" making it a regular layer.

Now you can do whatever you want to the background layer!

				| You are welcome to my true black and white point - colour correctoin, tutorial. Not my own invention but a great tutorial nonetheless, Credit goes to numerous sources but Katrin Eismann takes the biccie.
A great edge sharpenening technique is also yours if you want it, Again not my own, but collected over the years from experience.

I wont detail them here, just in case you want to make another thread Patrick (not suggesting you do)......

I think it would be valuable to keep all really helpful advice and info in its own thread and prune according to relevance when needed. (so probably this post can go:p)
