Hi everyone,

To start off with, im working with an old version of photoshop (photoshop 7, trying to save up for CS5)

I just wanted to get some feedback on my first attempt for a text / smoke effect ive been working on.

What i was trying to do was make it look as if each of the letters were giving off some smoke. Initally i was trying to follow the guide from http://abduzeedo.com/smoke-type-photoshop-10-steps but when it came to step 4, the glausian blur make it unreadable (10 pixels was a bit too much) and then when i swapped the folders blend mode to color dodge, it had no where near the resemblense of the guide... so instead, i tried a couple other things, added some smoke on each of the letters and the end result so far (still a working progress) is what i have.

Would like some constructive criticizim seeing that i am still quite new to the program but really trying to do the self taught threw guides that end up in a never ending battle of matching end results.

Thanks in advance

Looks sweet dude. I recon have it appear as if the letters have been floating up slowly like the smoke.

Thanks for the reply Auieos.

I couldn't quite figure out how to go about making the text look as if it was floating up like the smoke without having it to blurry so i went with a sligtly different approach. I also decided to lighten up part of the background to bring out more of the texture.
