Question about using the airbrush with a tablet.

Hi

I have a Wacom Intuos graphics tablet. I'm having difficulty with the airbrush in Photoshop.

When I paint with the brush, the colour is painted onto the layer, however when I move the brush back over where I just painted, it doesn't increast the opacity of the paint. It's as if the paint doesn't flow on a bit I've already done. If I lift the pen up from my tablet, and then paint again, it will increase the opactity.

Why can't I use the airbrush like a real airbrush and go over the same bit a few times?

Before you use a tablet to its full extent, you need to check certain settings.. to make it work as you want.

When you want the opacity to change you need to tell photshop that. In the attached image i showed you where you can tell photoshop to take into account the pressure you use on your tablet, which it will then translate into more or less opacity.

Then the second part you can do is this:

Use a blending mode (as indicated in the image).. your color will be used now when you go over the previous stroke.

I've just tried a few blending modes, but the brush still wont work as I would like...

But with the first one, if you press harder on your tablet, it should go darker... doesn't that work with you?

If I press light, then it comes out lighter. When I press hard, it goes darker, but as I move over the area, it stops spraying the paint, and I have to lift off and then paint again to get more paint to be put down

The same thing happens with the eraser.

I think i finally understand what you're saying.. if i got it right, this can be solved by using teh flow jitter (look at my first image). If you set it to 100% and set the box to penpressure as well, i think it should work.

I hope i got it this time..

I still can't get it to work Frown

Here's what's happening...

The top was brushed by pressing hard, I went over it a few times, but it remained the same colour. The bottom was painted seperately. Where I've gone over the previous paint, it's become darker.

It's as if I there's a limit on the amount of paint it will put down in one go.
