CS4 Color Problem

The other day, I created a custom stamp for my photographs. Since I have made this stamp, my color has been weird. For example, when I want to use the stamp (or any other stamp or brush) with say, the black color, it does not show up. If I use white, it turns gray/silver. If I use red, it is a blend of red and white. Etc. How can I fix this problem?
