I downloaded a small .gif from the web and opened it in PhotoShop. I tried to add a layer to the file but when I opened the layer menu, everything was unavailable except "flatten Image".
I looked everywhere for a solution but I couldn't find anything.
I finally marquis-selected the image and copied it into a new file. I was then able to add layers and accomplish what I wanted.
Why wasn't I able to add layers?
What do I do next time to add layers?
Do I have to cut/copy and paste each time? |

There is a very simple solution to this. (and no it isn't copy/paste..  )
When you have loaded your gif-file in photoshop, go to Image/Mode you'll notice it says Indexed color.. change this to RGB color. Now you can add layers and do whatever you want.

omfg!! thats how u do it, thx witam, i saved so many gifs, but had to copy n paste, thx man... lol
