A nice simple layout if a little naeive. One thing I can think of is to never mix tutorials with your portfolio. Have a seperate folio site by all means, but don't think that people coming to look at your folio will give a toss about wading through anything but your best work - whatever level you are at presently, it's good to get into good habits.

Learn to use all the screen real estate. On higher resolutions it appears like a postage stamp. Either learn to code within conventions or modify a template (something I would have to do if I didn't have code monkey friends). The best design would be CSS and a Liquid layout, obviously these aims may be a little lofty to start out with, but it does no harm being aware of them.

Not overly keen on the header image, it's a little basic and simple for my tastes, perhaps a more evocative image for the site name may say more to me. Off the top of my head (and in all probability a suck a$$ idea) I imagine an office building with all of the lights off, except your website name in lights at the top of the building (maybe even a blacked out city in the background).

Sorry to drag on, feel free to * at me or disregard any and all ideas ;)
