I don't think I'm going to be able to do this. all of my lines are crooked and uneven, and I can't figure out the curves in letters like U or O.

I'm having a hard time achieving good results with the pen tool. My lines are crooked, and I generally can't figure out how to use it correctly.

It seems the best that I'm capable of is painstakingly selecting everything with the magnetic mask tool, and just colouring on either side of the lines.

Once you have selected the image, with your magic wand. Click Selections on the tool bar. Then Modify > Expand. Put in the number of pixels you need to remove the rough edge. Click OK.

is there a way to draw a straight masking line?

Like if I wanted to trace out the A, I want to just draw a straight line down the sides.

Is there anyway to do that? I know I can make it draw a line straight, but it doesn't do angles.

Hold down the shift key when using the brush to make straight lines.

I don't want to use the brush, I want to use a masking tool, and when holding shift it will only let me draw a straight line either top to bottom or left to right.

I need to draw a straight line on an angle.

Hey everyone, first post for me.

So I entered here to check for a solution to my problem which is very similar to the main thread's posters problem.

So I drew this:

I want to make smooth lines and edges like it's font typed.
I tried pen tool but it seems too impossible and take waaaaaay too long time.

Any help??
Thanks.

Welcome to the forums, I hate to rain on your parade but for a decent result the Pen Tool is your friend. You need to desaturate I would use the channel mixer and then turn it more into a line art work, mount it up and then get Pen Tool crazy.

Mask tool, like the magnetic lasso tool, or something.

I keep messing everything up with the pen tool, and make all kinds of crazy curvy lines.
