I sure theres a simple expanation for this but when using any tool I can't select anything but black to white because the 'rgb sliders' option under colour is frozen out so I am unable to use colour.

new image, at the dropdown menu do RGB Color... or in your image, go to like the 3rd dropdown or so, dropdown, and find change to "RGB color"
