I'm trying to cut out a chess piece and a guitar with quick selection. I get them nicely seperated, but what do I do next? They just sit there with the marching ants. All the books take you to this point, but don't tell you what to do next!
Also, what's the best way to get them the same size (it's for a book cover, so proportion isn't important) _________________ davfra |

If you want to cut, hit Ctrl-x, copy Ctrl-c. Paste the copied or cut piece to a new layer hit Ctrl-p.
After you do that, hit Ctrl-t to transform and you can alter the size as you wish. |

Thanks for that. I'm almost there. I have a layer with the piece on now, but the original is still on my work area.
How do I get rid of it without losing the layer, please? _________________ davfra |

Drag that layer to the trashcan icon on the layers palette, or just turn it off (click the eyeball icon). |

I want to keep the layer of the chess piece and get rid of the large checked object on the main page. Then i would like to put that layer with the others on my book cover.
At the moment, I have a picture in the main area and as soon as I click on new, the new file completely covers the old one, instead of sitting alongside it. _________________ davfra |
