When I insert a Transparent TEXT GIF file into dream weaver, the quality in dreamweaver looks real crappy. Jagged edges and not smooth but the image in Photoshop looks smooth and fine. Not sure why it looks so good in Photoshop and real ugly in dream weaver.

Why is this?? I'm trying to make a navigation bar for my website!

For some reason I can make a transparent TEXT JPEG file which works in dreamweaver. When I insert a transparent jpg file in dreamweaver I just get a solid box which is not transparent?

So it looks like GIF is the way to go but when I bring it into Dreamweaver 4 it appears as if its low quality???

Any pointers?

Greg

Instead of gif, try using png.. that one can have transparency as well and usually with better results than gif.

The topic is getting frustrating. There are currently two other topics running on this issue.

Read those through. Let me know if you still have questions.

JPG doesn't support transparency. It is impossible to make that work. GIFs just look bad when they have trasparent backgrounds. There is no sure fire way around this. There are some minor tricks you can do to make it look decent, but most of the time it's not worth the effort.
