Hi,

What I would like to do is have an action to automatically place guides in certain positions on an image.

While this sounds easy, and is easily done - the problem arises when I apply it to an image of a different size because it takes the reference point from 0,0 if you know what I mean.

I am hoping there is a way that I can get it to say put a guide in an inch from the far right and from the bottom.

Does anyone know if this is at all possible?

Thanks in advance

Sounds like you might need a script written. Have you considered a grid instead?

I know you can insert a guide and give it an actual position View>New Guide, which would allow you to precisely position guides. Getting that into an action that also takes into account the width and height of an image would require a script that uses conditional logic.

I don't know if this link would be of use:

It's actually fairly easy. Say you want to create an action that puts guides in at 1 inch from each side and top and bottom of your image. Start recording your action...View>New Guide>Vertical>1 inch. View>New Guide>Horizontal>1 inch. That puts your guides at the top and left. Now....go to the Image Tab and rotate your canvas 180 degrees (depending on what version of PS you are using, this will either be under "Rotate Canvas" or "Image Rotation." Now follow steps 1 and 2 again, then rotate your canvas 180 degrees again to get it right side up.

Renee17,

Hey, I'm gonna give that a go. If it works, that's a fantastic bit of advice.

Thanks for sharing.
