In this short tip I’m going to show you how to turn a regular photo into a jigsaw puzzle.

Start off by opening an image of your choice, then go to Filter > Texture > Texturizer.

The key here is to switch the texture type to puzzle, but first you’ll need to load it up as it doesn’t display in the options as standard. So click the little arrow next to the texture type (see attached screenshot for the exact location) and then find the puzzle texture in the Photoshop directory. The exact location on your hard drive will depend on your operating system and Photoshop version. Here’s where I found it using Windows Vista and Photoshop CS3-

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Presets\Textures

Now use the scaling option to find the right sized pieces, and the relief option to increase or decrease the contrast between neighbouring pieces of the puzzle.

Good luck!

Hey Iain,

You shouldn't need to go into any folders, just open the texturizer and apply it from there.

Hope that helps
