Your fonts could be the problem, since ps tries to load them while it starts up. But i remember there to be a way around.
If you make a seperate font-folder (not in the windows font-directory) than you can decide yourself when he should load it. (maybe in some cases you don't need it?) It will improve your startup-time of ps and keep the problem of loading both at the same time (ps+fonts) away. _________________ Witam

Keep your fonts folder relatively empty, and then when you need a font, cut and paste it into the fonts folder in the win directory. _________________ Best Regards,

The loading afterwards will only work for ps. If you need those fonts in another program, this is not the solution.
Having said that,
In addition to the fonts installed on your system, Photoshop uses font files in these local folders:
Windows:
Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Fonts
Mac OS:
Library/Application Support/Adobe/Fonts _________________ Witam
