Is there a way to separate two or more objects that are on one layer into separate layers? For instance, I have a text box, a gradiant fill and a logo on one layer (which I realize now was a mistake). I want to copy just the text box to another part of the document, but everything else comes over). Is there a way to either "explode" them into different layers, or just copy the objects I need from that layer? Thanks!

make a selection and go to "Layer/New Layer From Copy"
and learn the keyboard short cut "command or Control/J"
