Hi
I have a problem. I have a scan of an old passport and I need to get the date of issue from it. The problem is that the date is very hard to read since it is the same color as the background. What could I do to make the numbers show more clearly. I have been playing around with contrast and brightness but no luck. I am not so experienced with Photoshop

try sharpening it or find edges (under Filter Menu)that might help define what your looking for |

Thank you for your tip iDad, unfortunantely it didn't help much. I thought that if I upload the picture, maybe some of you can help.
You should notice it saying "10 April 1987" or something like that in the middle of the picture. However I'm not sure if that is the date printed. Also there is another date printed above it that is less visible.
If someone can take the time to help me see the dates I would be very grateful.

Looks like 10 APR 1987 to me. I can only get it to be a little (very little) more clearer with the size image you have provided. Maybe scan it on a higher resolution.
It was actually stamped "10 APR 1987" twice. But to give you something definitive would take a higher res image for me anyway.

it looks like 10 APR 1987 to me as well.
That's about the time I was leaving Berlin to come home to the states.
