hi, im having trouble making a white to transparent gradient overlay, i always get a grey about halway in. and also, when i do a marquee selection over my gradient shape and try to use the burn/dodge tool inside of it, it doesnt do anything, any help greatly appreciated. thanks. derek |

Click your gradient pulldown to edit your gradient. Is forground to transparent selected? If not, look at your gradient editor. I bet you have a paint bucket on one end that is black. If so, change it to white. Or select the foreground to transparent option and set your forground color to white.
As for the other part of your question.
I'm not sure burn/dodge work on a "shape" without rasterizing it first. Maybe someone can confirm or deny that?
