|
|
Does anyone here do regular scanning of images, photos etc..?
I'm having a small problem.
There is this really small graphic I want to scan.
I am using an HP PSC 750 all in one. The scanner can scan as high as
9400 or something. Don't know much about scanners.
Here is the problem, everytime I scan this little graphic, it always comes out pixelated. Really badly.
I've tried upping the scanner output resolution to as high as it will go, I've also tried as low as it will go.
Still, each time, this little graphic comes out looking like garbage. And yet, when ever I scan a photo it comes out great!
Is this a common issue with scanners? Or the scannie?

hmm.. good question.
at a glance I would say it is about 150 by 150 pixels. Maybe even 170 by 170.
I guess it's not the smallerst graphic, but I sure amnot getting a picture perfect scan...? _________________ Providing small business with high quality affordable websites:

I meant physically. In inches. It sounds like it's the size of the thing you're trying to scan. How sharp is the image you're trying to scan? _________________ Best Regards,

heh heh..sorry.
I tend to think in pixels all the time now. LOL
It's about 1.5 inches by 1.5 inches.
How sharp?
Well, it's not blurry in any way. Think of a comic book. Say spider man. It's as sharp, if not more, than what you would get from a spiderman comic.
Any ideas? _________________ Providing small business with high quality affordable websites:

The ideal lway to achieve best results would be to have the small print re-photograhed and enlarged in a darkroom. Some film grain would would show, but could be removed in photoshop
Hopes this helps

It may have a half tone screen through it and/or show the paper grain if it has come from printed material _________________ WHAT WOULD VAN GOUGH HAVE DONE WITH PHOTOSHOP |

well thanks guys, really
I can't really get the image reprinted, I'm doing this as a favor for a friend and don't want to much more cash on this.
I did however get a better quality image.
I went into LAB mode, then blurred layers a & b, and USM the L layer. The result was a clearer image, better than before and for my needs good enough.
But yes, Teddc, the paper grain did show through it. I scanned it from a print. It was blurred out enough to not be a problem.
Thanks much guys _________________ Providing small business with high quality affordable websites:

Yes Pat, working in LAB gives a much better blur. Very good for eliminating JPEG artifacts.
