hi all,
been using photoshop 7, for about 18 months, just upgraded to cs, was doing some work with the program, when i went to use the layer/group with previous option, in the layer drop down menu, but it doesnt seem to be there in cs, can anybody help me, or is there another way around this

You can group or link layers by clicking the link icon next to the layer name on the left.

thanks for that m8y, but that is not what i meant, the layer/group with previous is slightly different, i.e if u had a text layer in say black and a layer on top of that with a texture that took up the whole canvas ( i.e, you wouldnt see the text ), and you went to use the group with previous option on the texture layer, only the text would show the texture, i just found it really usefull in imageready for animating gifs.

phew its ok, just work it out,

u can do the same via, layer, create clipping mask!!!!!!! Big Grin

lol ok I understand the question a little better now. You can also do a color overlay and select pattern in the drop down menu.
