My wife and I each have downloaded upgrade versions CS3 on septate computers. She is taking a class in Photoshop using the Adobe Classroom in a Book as a text. About a month ago she started to have problems getting selection tools and brushes etc. to work. None of those types of tools work at all now.

She has downloaded the latest upgrades. We have completely removed Photoshop from the computer, and reinstalled it twice. No help. The computer is scanned for viruses and bots. All other applications work fine. She is now having to use my computer to complete her class work. Confused

Has anyone experienced this problem and solved it?

Culprit... The Wacom tablet

Actually, I discovered this information by looking at an answer posted in the Adobe knowledge base. It specified Wacom tablets.

Funny, I use a Wacom tablet with no problems. Of course it is a different model. I browsed through the Wacom sight looking for information on Photoshop compatibility problems, and found none. Since the tablet and pen is such a useful tool, I guess we will look for another tablet for her computer.

By the way, both tablets have both a mouse and pen. The pen was usually far away from the mouse, but aparently the mouse must be away from the tablet for the tools to work. She is now using a standard mouse and not the tablet.

I found more information... suposedly this is a well known problem with tablets (not all of them) and Photoshop... not isolated to Wacom. What some people have done is to keep the tablet and pen in place, and use a cordless laser mouse instead of the mouse that comes with the tablet. Sounds good to me.

Makes sense. I'm sure a lot of tablet users have had similar issues. Thanks again!
